A team approach to success

In order to provide you with the best possible care, we offer access to a panel of dedicated and experienced specialists. Our bariatric surgery team includes cardiologists, gastroenterologists, pulmonologists, endocrinologists, surgeons, dietitians and behavioral health experts, all working together to develop a personalized care plan for you. This care plan includes extensive education and evaluation before surgery, and the lifetime follow-up care and support crucial to keeping the weight off and staying healthy.

A program designed for you

Along with assembling an exceptional team, Mountainside has made many changes to the hospital building itself, including new furniture, wheelchairs, surgical instruments and specially designed surgical tables to meet the special needs of our bariatric patients.

With you every step of the way

Before surgery, we help our patients successfully navigate the insurance approvals process. Knowing the goal is lifelong change, we provide free, ongoing support before and after surgery. This multidisciplinary approach gives our patients and their families the best possible results.

We know what works

According to estimates, less than 5% of individuals who participate in non-surgical weight loss programs will lose a significant amount of weight and maintain that loss for a long period of time. Sustained weight loss for patients who are morbidly obese is even harder to achieve. Worse, people who subject their bodies to a severe and continuing cycle of weight loss and gain known as "yo-yo dieting" are subject to serious health risks.

Your path to a happier, healthier life

For many patients, the risk of death from not having weight loss surgery is greater than the risks from the possible complications of surgical weight loss procedures. That is the key reason that in 2009, approximately 100,000 weight loss surgical procedures were performed. Patients who have had the procedure and are benefiting from its results report improvements in their quality of life, social interactions, psychological well being, improved employment opportunities and economic condition. In short, they’re healthier and happier and, sometimes even wealthier.
