Critical answers when you need them most
The Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at HackensackUMC Mountainside provides critical answers to help pinpoint potential heart problems, including coronary artery disease, aortic and valve disease. In addition to offering the very latest in diagnostic procedures, you'll find our staff of interventional cardiologists as well as our highly-skilled nurses and technicians, to be warm and compassionate. A non-surgical procedure, cardiac catheterization enables doctors to better evaluate a course of action for patients who suffer from chest pain, show signs of blocked arteries, or display abnormal results after a stress test.
During the procedure, a thin catheter is inserted into an artery and carefully guided through the artery utilizing advanced imaging equipment, until it reaches the heart. Dye is then injected through the catheter and flows to the heart, enabling the cardiologists to clearly see how the heart and arteries are functioning and determine a course of treatment.
