The Mountainside Geriatric Psychiatry Program is a community-based inpatient resource devoted exclusively to the needs of seniors with behavioral disorders. The program provides the finest quality, short-term intervention, assessment and treatment by geriatric specialists. Its goal is to stabilize patients so they can safely return to their residence or nursing.
Serving the Complext Needs of Older Patients
Dementia and other behavioral disorders that impede quality-of-life and create safety issues are becoming increasingly common among the elderly as the size of the senior citizen population grows, longevity increases and the incidence of illness that cause cognitive impairment continues to escalate.
The Mounatinside Geriatric Psychiatry Program is designed to address the complex needs of older patients with behavioral issues, particularly the need to holistically treat all underlying medical conditions and determine if medications that are part of a patients regimen are actually causing or contributing to behavioral concerns.
