Our services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergency psychiatric services. We help children as young as kindergarten age, adolescents, adults, and older adults, including women, executives, professionals and other high-functioning adults, with behavioral issues. We also offer the full complement of services: intensive inpatient, partial hospitalization, and outpatient programs.

Most insurance plans are accepted, including Medicare and Medicaid, and HackensackUMC Mountainside Behavioral Health Services is licensed by The State of New Jersey and accredited by The Joint Commission.

In a crisis, we're the call you need to make

Our Team of Counselors provides 24-hour Behavioral Health evaluations in the Emergency Department and the Hospital. We'll quickly evaluate a patient, determine the level of care required and provide the appropriate care or referrals. The Counselors are also available to answer any questions at 973-429-6963. In a crisis situation, do not hesitate to go directly to the Emergency Department.

Inpatient: Intensive therapy when it's needed most

We offer a 20-bed acute inpatient adult unit with 16 voluntary beds and 4 involuntary beds. The team there includes a full complement of highly trained and caring nurses, social workers, activity therapists and healthcare technicians – with psychiatrists specially trained in geriatric psychiatry and addictions.

Partial hospitalization: The comfort of home with intensive therapy

Acute Partial Hospitalization is available to adults Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Daily admissions are welcomed by calling 973-429-6775. We offer limited free transportation. Medicaid, Medicare and most insurance plans are accepted.

Intensive outpatient: A successful option

Intensive Outpatient services are provided as step-down treatment for patients who do not qualify for Partial Hospitalization, but require more intensive services than those available in an outpatient program. This program usually operates three mornings per week with group and individual therapy as well as medication intervention. Services are available Monday through Friday.

Outpatient Programs: Flexibility that alleviates the fear

Our Outpatient Programs provide individual and group therapy for children as early as age 5, adolescents, adults and seniors. Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday with evening appointments available as needed. Appointments are scheduled by calling 973-429-6775. Medicaid, Medicare and most insurance plans are accepted.
