HackensackUMC Mountainside Dental Clinic

HackensackUMC Mountainside runs a fully equipped dental office for patients from the community.  Dental residents who have completed their studies at U.S. dental schools provide excellent care.  Whether your needs are preventative, urgent or comprehensive, the HackensackUMC Mountainside Dental Clinic is ready to help.

Poor oral hygiene can lead to a variety of dental and medical problems such as gum disease, infection, bone loss, heart disease, strokes and more.  Regular cleanings and check-ups can prevent these problems as well as provide you and your family with the support for good oral health.  Most children and adults should see their dentist for a regular check-up and cleaning every 6 months.  Our experienced dental staff can help preserve your family’s dental health.

Many insurance plans are accepted.  Copayments and deductibles apply.

Services include:

  • Comprehensive dental care
  • Emergency dental care
  • Implant procedures
  • Prosthetic services
  • Pediatric dentistry
  • Periodontal therapy: Management of problems related to gum and bone issues.
  • Endodontic therapy: provision of root canal therapy.
  • Oral Surgery: removal of teeth, biopsies and preprosthetic oral surgery.

Dental residents are on-call for after-hours emergency services and specialists consult as needed.  Patients with potentially compromising medical conditions are treated in conjunction with their personal physician.

The need for dental care and prevention

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there are some 500 million dental visits each year in the United States at a cost of some $50 billion. However, there are still many adults and children who suffer from oral diseases that could be prevented. Here is another startling fact: an estimated 30,000 Americans are diagnosed with oral and pharyngeal cancers each year, resulting in more than 8,000 deaths. Many of these deaths can be prevented with regular dental exams. Also, nearly 20 percent of preschoolers suffer needlessly from tooth decay. Proper preventive care– regular check-ups, brushing, flossing, fluoridation and dental sealants – can significantly reduce these risks and the suffering that comes with them.

Community Calendar:

  • Dental screenings are offered at local Head Start programs throughout the year.
  • Health education programs targeted to specific community groups can be developed in collaboration with the HackensackUMC Mountainside Community Health Department.
