HackensackUMC Mountainside promotes Basics of Heart Health for American Heart Month
Applications for 2014-2015 Academic Year Due March 5
HackensackUMC Mountainside has received an “A” grade for hospital safety from The Leapfrog Group, an independent nonprofit organization run by employers and other large purchasers of health benefits,which conducted a nationwide review of hospitals this year. The “A” score was awarded in an update announced by Leapfrog on October 18.
HackensackUMC Mountainside announces the availability of Xofigo® (radium Ra 223 dichloride) in their treatment of certain men with advanced prostate cancer. The drug, which was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) earlier this year, is intended for use in men whose cancer has spread (metastasized) to their bones, who have symptoms from their cancer and who have already received treatment to lower testosterone levels.

MONTCLAIR, N.J. – (June 27, 2013) – HackensackUMC Mountainside has begun phase one of a three phase expansion of the hospital’s Emergency Department. The project, expected to take two to three months to complete, will result in an improved triage process, and the addition of four rooms.
HackensackUMC Mountainside has received an “A” grade for hospital safety from The Leapfrog Group, an independent nonprofit organization run by employers and other large purchasers of health benefits,which conducted a nationwide review of hospitals this year. The “A” score was awarded in an update announced by Leapfrog on November 28.
John A. Fromhold has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of HackensackUMC Mountainside by Montclair Health System, LLC the joint venture that acquired the hospital in July 2012. Montclair Health System LLC is a joint venture between Hackensack University Health Network (HUHN) and the LHP Hospital Group, Inc. (LHP). Mr. Fromhold is the incumbent Chief Executive Officer and has been associated with the hospital since 2007.
HackensackUMC Mountainside has been designated as a Breast Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR), the medical profession’s premier professional association in the fields of diagnostic and interventional radiology.
Effective July 1, 2012, ownership of Mountainside Hospital was officially transferred to a joint venture of the Hackensack University Health Network and its partner LHP Hospital Group, Inc. from Merit Health Systems, LLC, marking the start of a new era for the 121 year-old, 365-bed facility that will now be known as HackensackUMC Mountainside.
Mountainside Hospital has received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s (AHA/ASA) highest honor for stroke care, the Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award.
