**Famed astronaut and hometown hero will return to the hospital where he was born**
**Major capital improvement project recently completed at state of the art facility**

Montclair, New Jersey (September, 2016) – HackensackUMC Mountainside Hospital is pleased to announce that Buzz Aldrin, one of first men to walk on the moon, will return to Mountainside Hospital where he was born 86 years ago. The visit will begin on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 1:15 pm. Aldrin will tour the newly renovated OB/GYN department at 2:15pm, where a major capital improvement project has recently been completed. Elected officials, local dignitaries, hospital leadership and staff will be on hand to welcome the famous astronaut and the hospital will unveil a plaque to honor the local hero.

The capital improvements made to the OB/GYN department at HackensackUMC Mountainside Hospital represent the institution's continuing commitment to provide the highest level of health care to patients and their families. The department has been redesigned to include private, spa-inspired rooms, upgraded facilities, fresh a la carte meals and an overall enhanced experience for expectant mothers and their families. The OB/GYN department is equipped as a Level 2 NICU and pediatricians with years of special training in the care of premature newbornsinsure the comfort and well-being of mother and child. In addition, experienced, board-certified OB/GYN hospitalists partner with our affiliated community physicians and midwives and are on site 24/7 to improve patient safety and satisfaction. Our staff also includes Certified Lactation Consultants to assist new mothers who plan to breastfeed. In all, the OB/GYN department at HackensackUMC Mountainside Hospital has emerged as a premier choice for new mothers and fathers who value comfort, well being and peace of mind.

Buzz Aldrin was born at Mountainside Hospital on January 20, 1930. The future astronaut was raised in the community and educated in the Montclair Public Schools. His visit to the OB/GYN department coincides with HackensackUMC Mountainside Hospital's lead sponsorship for the dedication of Buzz Aldrin Middle School. The hospital has committed $10,000 to underwrite the cost of renaming Mount Hebron Middle School. HackensackUMC Mountainside Hospital will work in partnership with the Montclair School District to create a Buzz Aldrin STEM education program that will highlight the relationship between technology and medicine.


· Buzz Aldrin will arrive at HackensackUMC Mountainside Hospital, 1 Bay Avenue, Montclair, NJ, 07042, on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 1:15pm. Aldrin will enter the facility at the front entrance and will be welcomed by elected officials, local dignitaries, hospital leadership, physicians and staff.  Aldrin will tour the OB/GYN department at 2:15pm.

· The official dedication of Buzz Aldrin Middle School will take place on September 16, 2016 at 9:30 am on the front steps of the former Mount Hebron Middle School, 173 Bellevue Ave, Montclair, NJ 07043.
