What is infusion therapy?

Infusion therapy is giving medication through a needle or catheter. It is generally ordered when a patient’s condition cannot be treated well with a pill. Typically, “infusion therapy” means that a drug is given directly into a vein, but the term may also refer to drugs that are given through other non-oral routes, such as injections.
