The Heart Failure (HF) Center at Mountainside Medical Center inspires hope and courage in patients and their families on a daily basis. Outpatient treatment is delivered in a compassionate, innovative, and progressive manner, and provides the best care close to home.

What is Heart Failure?

Heart failure is a chronic, progressive condition in which the heart muscle is unable to pump enough blood through to meet the body's needs for blood and oxygen. It describes a heart that is not able to keep up with its workload.

Mountainside’s Heart Failure Center offers:

  • A wide range of advanced treatment options provided by utilizing evidence-based protocols to achieve the best outcomes that help to keep you doing those things that bring joy to your life. Those treatments include:
    • Education and educational materials
    • Evaluation of HF symptoms and effectiveness of medical treatment
    • Coordination of care with the assistance of the multidisciplinary team
    • Drawing of blood and evaluation of lab values
    • Administration of intravenous cardiac medications with cardiac monitoring
    • Referral to appropriate support services
    • Evaluation for central venous access is done by highly skilled nurse with Advanced Cardiac Life support training who are caring and compassionate
  • An on-site pharmacy staffed by experienced pharmacists
  • A caring environment designed with your needs in mind. New, comfortable treatment chairs in private treatment areas where you can watch individual TV’s, access the wireless network or read. Snacks, drinks, lunches and warm blankets are made available.

Mountainside Medical Center is certified by the Joint Commission in Heart Failure.
