MONTCLAIR, N.J. – (June 27, 2013) – HackensackUMC Mountainside has begun phase one of a three phase expansion of the hospital’s Emergency      Department.  The project, expected to take two to three months to complete, will result in an improved triage process, and the addition of four rooms.
“We are expanding our services to help more people, said Marjory Langer, M.D., director of Emergency Department. “Because we are seeing volumes increase, this expansion will help provide more direct care for these patients, allowing for nurses to be at the bedside. These efforts will also increase the patient flow process in the emergency department. Having more beds will help expand all of our ED services. It will allow us to expedite our patients more effectively.”

At HackensackUMC Mountainside board-certified Emergency Medicine Physicians provide outstanding evaluation and treatment for patients with a full spectrum of emergency medical needs. The HackensackUMC Mountainside Emergency Department has been designated a Primary Stroke Center, and holds the distinction of being one of the few community hospitals in New Jersey licensed by the state to perform emergency angioplasty, a critical lifesaving procedure.
