HackensackUMC Mountainside Department of Internal Medicine Residents Receive Highest Honors

Montclair, New Jersey (May 17, 2016) – On Wednesday, May 11, 2016, the Oncology Society of New Jersey hosted a scientific forum devoted to Clinical Cancer Research in New Jersey at The Manor Restaurant in West, Orange, NJ.  Residents, fellows, and other healthcare professionals working in hematology or oncology were invited to introduce cases for possible oral presentation – five candidates from HackensackUMC Mountainside were chosen to showcase their submissions. 

Of approximately 18 presentations, Dr. Priya Mehta was awarded first place with “A Case of Bad Luck: DoubleWhammy”,Dr. Pratima Dibba, second place with “Cavitating Mesenteric Lymph Node Syndrome and Enteropathy Associated T-Cell Lymphoma: Two Rare Complications Manifesting in a Patient with Refractory Celiac Disease: A Case Report”and Dr. Neil Shah won third place with “Successful Solid Organ Transplant Tolerance: A case report.” 

Under the leadership of Dr. Bijal Mehta, Internal Residency Program Director at HackensackUMC Mountainside, residents receive the highest quality training with a learner centric approach, while maintaining patient - centered care.  Residents have close mentoring and working relationships with faculty which provide interdisciplinary teachings and instruction in a variety of disciplines.
