Montclair, New Jersey (January 15, 2015) – HackensackUMC Mountainside is pleased to announce that a new online resource has been created to share news, information and updates with community members about the planned improvements to the hospital campus. The webpage is located on the hospital’s main site and can be found at: www.mountainsidehosp.com/campusimprovements. HackensackUMC Mountainside is making substantial improvements to its facilities to ensure that patients and families in Glen Ridge, Montclair and the surrounding communities have more options, more choices and more access to premier health care.

“As we move forward with these important upgrades to our facilities, our goal is to keep our neighbors and the community up to date on the progress of the project,” said HackensackUMC Mountainside CEO John Fromhold. “We are committed to the open and honest exchange of information as we move forward with these essential improvements to our campus. They will help us deliver world class health care to our community.”

On the campus improvements webpage, users will find frequently asked questions and links to media sources and articles about the project. Additionally, visitors can submit questions and concerns. HackensackUMC Mountainside will respond to online queries and will periodically update the webpage with news and information.

HackensackUMC Mountainside is developing a Class A medical office building on the site previously occupied by the School of Nursing. A new, modern medical facility is being designed to meet the requirements of top doctors and specialists and to satisfy the high expectations of patients who seek access to the highest quality of care. The Hampshire Companies, a fully integrated real estate company with an extensive medical office building portfolio, has been chosen as the developer for the project, and a Project Manager has been hired to shepherd the plan to completion. In addition, a traffic study is underway to help guide the development and plan for the flow of cars and pedestrians in the immediate area of the hospital.

On December 19th, the HackensackUMC Mountainside School of Nursing relocated to the Montclair State University campus, and the next semester of classes for students has commenced there on January 5, 2015. The nursing profession is growing increasingly complex and, consequently, new programs are needed to fully prepare students for the rigors of nursing in an increasingly challenging healthcare industry. The HackensackUMC Mountainside School of Nursing will not enroll students in the current two-year diploma program for Fall 2015 while the plans for these more intensive academic options are further explored.
